Hi Everybody!!!
I know it's been a while! Last time I wrote to y'all, I was leaving Texas. Well, a lot of things have happened since then. I hope to catch y'all (like that? y'all? I'm fitting right in) up on things in the next few blog posts.
But for now, I just wanted to write about what's been happening on my trip in the food department.
On July 17, 2013, I wrote a journal entry in my journal...but before I do that, I want to talk to you about something.
I few years ago, I was at a retreat kind of thing. One of the exercises we did was we asked God to write a letter to us. I was like,
"Yeah, right. God is going to write a letter to me?"
I really didn't believe it. The person in charge said to just ask God to write a letter to you, and sit there quietly with your pen in hand and write down whatever comes into your head.
So I tried it, AND it worked!!!!
It's a long story about what that letter contained, and you know I like to tell long stories, but that one is for another time, but it really did work. My pen was actually just moving across the paper and words were coming out that were not mine.
It was really a letter from God.
I've told other people to try it, and it's worked for them, so try it. It should be an encouraging letter, so if it's not, it's probably YOU and NOT God,
so start over and try again.
Anyway, I do that a lot...I ask God to write me letters, or I write Him a letter,
and He writes me one back.
So back in July, I was having DOUBTS about this trip. I asked God to write me a letter,
and this is what He said:
"Dear Lory,
You know I love you, right?
You know I've ALWAYS been faithful to you, right?
You know I know the plans for you, right?
Trust me, Lory, and you will see. You have NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING to worry about.
I have you in the palm of my hand, my mighty hand. I know exactly where I want you to go. I know exactly who I want you to talk to, pray with, love.
I will be your guide. I will give you direction. There is nothing that you need to worry about. We've been on a JOURNEY together this whole time. This is only a small part. Trust me and see. It will be fun! It will be exciting! I know all the things you LOVE and all the things you love to do, and I will bless your way. Watch for me. You will see me. It will be amazing!"
So that's a pretty encouraging letter, right?
As I've been on this JOURNEY, I just wanted to tell you how faithful God has been in the "I know all the things you LOVE" department. I've shared some of them with you already, but wanted you to see that they're a direct gift from God because He KNOWS all the things I love, and He KNOWS all the things you love too and wants to bless you with them.
Here we go. God just seems to be on such a roll, so I wanted to list them all together:
Acai Berry Bowl
Swami's Turkey Wrap
Pumpkin Spice Muffin
My Favorite Chocolate Chip Cookies from Trader Joe's
An Excellent Bottle of Reisling
Then I was sitting in Old Mesilla, NM, reading a story about a restaurant across the street, and read that they had a Margarita that won best Margarita in the whole Southwest!!!!
Margaritas are my FAVORITE, and I thought that was so funny that I'd be sitting right there across the street from the WINNER of the entire Southwest, so I HAD to have one.
Here it is.... the WINNER! I do agree
Next stop was San Antonio and my new friend, Val, just happened to have three tubs of my other favorite Trader Joe's cookies...ginger snaps, so she gave me one, AND when we got to her house, she said, "As soon as you're settled, come in. I'm making Margaritas!!" Yay!!!
Then Julee and I went to a restaurant on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, and they had a
Prickly Pear Margarita!
What?!?!
And they made guacamole at our table!
And Julee also ALLOWED me to have mushrooms with goat cheese (sorry, Saige), which doesn't happen at my house because I'm the only one who likes mushrooms at my house, and tomato salad and salmon!!!
And then for the first time EVER, I got to try one of those BIG waffle cones covered with chocolate and coffee and tin roof sundae ice cream! Oh my!
I was kind of seeing a trend... God really was blessing me with my FAVORITE things.
When I got to Rayne, Louisianna, to visit Jim Hoffman, who is Victor's (see It All Started With a Sign) dad, instead of offering me water or ice tea or something like that to drink, he said,
"Do you want a ginger ale float?"
Oh my gosh!!!!! Who says that????
I LOVE ginger ale floats!!!!
That's when I knew this all had to be God because He had told me "I know ALL the things you love." and He KNOWS I love ginger ale floats.
That was just too crazy!
I already felt like I was being blessed with my favorite things during the JOURNEY. Now I KNOW, AND I'm going to keep paying attention because I still have thousands of miles to go and lots more things that I love!
So....it sounds like there's been lots of eating and drinking going on! Miss you!
ReplyDeleteI want to ft you tomorrow!
